Background
Present Times
As Nimh's 15th year began, the family was blessed one morn by a passing soldier through the harbor.
The Federation soldier purchased nearly all of the Seaghwyns' stock of fish in bulk, using the rations to feed the rest of his garrison.
The amount of profit all at once was a rare event, and where Alvera saw new paint for the fishery's sign, Nimh saw her chance.
Early Life
Nimh was born as the only child belonging to the newest generation of the crestfallen Seaghwyn family.
By the time she had spawned into Arborea, her mother Alvera had stepped away from the ugly PR battle the last noble-Seaghwyns were fighting. A life of clawing and deceiving to the top of the political hierarchy wasn't what her mother wanted for Nimh, and so the child's fate was placed in Cutthroat Harbor. The Seaghwyns had lost their money and their nobility.
She was employed at a young age to help her parents with their fishing business, catching and selling fresh fish to pirates, nobles and common-folk alike. At first, that was just life. Nimh accepted it--perhaps she even thrived, as a young child, in the sands and sea. But her grandmother Leanngelis wasn't going to let her become as content with normalcy as Alvera had become.
Nimh's grandmother became the voice upon her shoulder, whispering in her ear to make sure the girl knew that her family had been intended for greatness. Nimh would turn out a fool if she let herself inherit the fishing business, Leann told her. She was capable of nobility. What was noblity? Fame, power, money, fear and reverence. That was what she could accomplish. Nimh could restore the glory to the family name, such glory that was suffocated in the hushed scandal between them and the Therondhael family.
With these powerful words ringing through a mind so young, Nimh soon grew an ego too tall for her own little person.
At the age of six, she came face-to-face with the littlest of the Therondhael family, Ashlyn, who had landed idly on her family's beach with a shovel and bucket for sandcastles. Only a year older than her, Ashlyn was to be ruthlessly bullied, commanded and ordered around by the other elven child each time he set foot on her sands. Nimh had already become a ruthlessly tyrannical youth.
For one reason or another, though, Ashlyn still followed behind her where she went as she acted a noble ruler over the fishing village. However noble that ruling a fishing village could be, especially if you were a child that no one took seriously.
Being Alvera's daughter only fueled the tyke's egotistical beginnings, as most in the village didn't squabble with the child. Her mother was the owner of the most efficient fishery in the harbor, after all--no one needed to dare upset her.
Every piece fell perfectly into place, no matter how hard that the girl's parents tried to deter this fantastical expectation of herself she had founded. The foundation was built well, still holding up to this very day.
Under mysteriously sudden circumstances, Ashlyn was pulled away from the harbor to be placed into Federation ranks for training.
Nimh, being only 8, only understood an extent of what that meant. What she did fully understand was her anger. She had become good friends with the boy in the years passed, and now he had suddenly left her with not so much as a farewell. Even a note.
Nimh grew an injured bitterness from this abandonment, now more cold than she had ever been.
Shortly after this devstation, Alvera and Roe had had enough of Nimh's behaviour, and the parents put her on a stricter training and working schedule. Her mother could only hope to relieve the child of these fantasies, and this awful attitude; the way she saw it, they were empty and would only end in disappointment.
